Summary of key findings for parents and pupils
This is a good school
The executive principal has demonstrated relentless purpose and ambition in developing a new school. She has, with effective leadership support from the trust, governors and senior leaders, skilfully built a team of staff which is focused on ensuring that pupils receive a good education. Leaders, governors and teaching staff have a shared, agreed plan for the school and its further development and expansion. This includes the intended growth of the number of key stage 2 classes next year. The quality of teaching, learning and assessment is good. Consequently, pupils are making good progress in reading, writing and mathematics. Children get off to a good start in the early years. They make effective progress in the three Reception classes. This ensures that they are well prepared for key stage 1. Pupils behave excellently in lessons and around the school. They treat each other and adults with respect and are proud to be pupils at Jupiter Community Free School. School staff, including leaders, know the pupils extremely well. They provide outstanding welfare support which is highly valued by parents. Opportunities for spiritual, moral, social and cultural development are extensive. Pupils have a strong understanding of values, such as tolerance and respect. They know how these can be applied to their life both in and outside school. The trust provides effective strategic support. Along with the executive principal, the trust has an in-depth knowledge of the school and holds leaders firmly to account. The local governing board continues to develop its skills, and provides a strong level of challenge and support. An effective assessment system is in place. It shows that children and pupils are achieving well. However, some disadvantaged pupils, including those in the early years, do not make as much progress as they are capable of from their starting points. Leaders have not yet embedded systems that support larger numbers of pupils, as the school continues to grow. In particular, subject leadership is in its infancy and so middle leaders who are subject leaders are not consistently contributing towards, and evaluating, their own impact on pupils' achievement.
